Not sure either of those would have been ideal signings.
Cahill would only take playing time away from Diop or Balbuena- or assuming Balbuena is actually coming back soon- be sitting on the bench as back up. Only if Balbuena will end up being out until April or something like that, then it could have been a wise move. Maybe in summer if we move Ogbonna on? We also need to know what we have in Reid when he finally returns. But I'm sure Cahill would demand a starting place which would be tricky seen as Balbuena and Diop are hopefully the future there.
Drinkwater- maybe just as insurance in case Rice or Noble get injured? Not sure he'd actually add anything and we have a fair few midfielders, even if they might not all be as good as we'd like. I always thought Kante was actually responsible for a lot of the hype surrounding DD anyway.

The Arnautovic saga fucked everything up waiting for some money to come in it fell though late on and Husillos was spending his time looking for a replacement
Cahill and Drinkwater were last minute

In a perfect world yes but it ain't a perfect world. Not the worst compared with say Mike Ashley but they have massively contributed in taking the Club with once one of the most respected reputations in football to now one of the worst in the opinion of outsiders although in fairness to them that all started with the Tevez saga and they weren't on board then,.
The problem is as others have said is who comes in? Not too many years ago Tony Fernandes was looked upon by some as the Messiah and look what mess he made of QPR.
I guess as long as the Club is on a stable financial footing compared with others that have fallen badly we at least have something to be thankful for but as for the rest, well would someone else be able to salvage reputation and help the Club kick on?

Why would they sell so soon after the big investment they made on transfers last summer?

It would be nice, but depending on who they sold to. Don;t want to trade one poor situation for another similar or worse one.
However, I don't think the recent run of form and injuries is what should necessarily restart this debate. We had a solid squad capable of top 10 and a good stab at the cup until everyone started getting injured,

those injured players still aren't contributing on the pitch and until they are 2.3 loans would steady the ship until their return to action

It’s going to be a rollercoaster when that little gay son takes over.
Massively out of his depth but loves the club. Can see him spending the family’s fortune on transfers and cocaine.

Sullivan jnr is being groomed to take over and from the looks of that BBC programme, it won’t be pretty when he does. Normally it’s the third generation of a dynasty that destroys the family fortune, I reckon it won’t stretch that far in this ancestral line.
